"There Is Information That A New Document Will Be Signed By August 30," Garnik Davtyan in Conversation with 168.am

According to Garnik Davtyan, an expert on Azerbaijani affairs, the meetings between Putin-Aliyev and Putin-Pashinyan are not merely coincidental. He stated in an interview with 168.am that information from Azerbaijani social networks suggests that a document is set to be signed by August 30. The nature of this document will become clearer in the coming days, depending on political developments.

August 30 is noted as the date of Azerbaijan's independence from the USSR. However, when discussing the deadline, it is not specifically stated as August 30; rather, they mention the period from August 24-30. The course of political transformations will reveal what developments arise.

During the Putin-Aliyev negotiations held in the Kremlin, Russian President Putin indicated that one of the most important issues remains the stabilization of the situation in the region. Addressing Aliyev, Putin said, "I know that you pay great attention to this issue and allocate significant effort to it. I want to thank you for pursuing compromise solutions. They are always the most difficult. But if we want to achieve stabilization, and we all do, we must go down that path. Thus far, we have succeeded in this, for which I want to express my gratitude."

According to Garnik Davtyan, it is evident from Vladimir Putin's statement that work is underway regarding a specific document. "I assume that this document includes compromise formulas regarding territories that must be mutually accepted by both Armenia and Azerbaijan. One very important factor to emphasize is that if we consider a hypothetical scenario where France or the USA are addressing this issue instead of Russia, I believe that the creation and subsequent acceptance of this document would be more detrimental to Armenia than the current involvement of Russia in this matter. The 44-day war clearly demonstrated that European and Western countries were not interested in restraining Azerbaijan, particularly in the context of using terrorists as instruments of war and the application of phosphorus weapons. Only Macron's statements conveyed concrete messages, but practically nothing was done. What was done was achieved thanks to Russia's efforts."

Regarding the potential document to be signed, the Azerbaijani affairs expert stated the following: "At the state level, discussions have been held about the enclaves and the Azerbaijani soldiers advancing 3.5 km in Syunik, and these will also be included in the document. There is also talk about demarcation and delimitation, which is related to the deployment of Azerbaijani troops in Syunik, and I believe that the document will also pertain to where these troops will ultimately be stationed."
