The Danger Is Not Past: A More Dangerous Coronavirus Variant May Emerge, Says WHO Chief

The Director-General of the World Health Organization has stated that it is possible for a new and more dangerous coronavirus variant to emerge, potentially more threatening than the Delta variant, according to TASS.

“The wider the spread of the coronavirus in terms of scale and geography, the greater the potential for new variants to emerge. These could be more dangerous than the currently existing and harmful Delta variant. The more variants there are, the higher the likelihood that any of them could render vaccines ineffective, and in that case, we would return to square one,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
