If the West is a problem solver, let it solve the issue of EU member Cyprus: Sharmazanov

Following the regional visit of European Council President Charles Michel, pro-Western sentiments have intensified in our country regarding the support from Europe or the West. This was stated by Edvard Sharmazanov, a member of the Board of the Republican Party of Armenia, on his Facebook page.

He added that if the West is a problem solver, it should be resolving the issue of Cyprus, where 38 percent of the territory has been occupied by Turkey for 47 years.

Sharmazanov emphasized that while pro-Western sentiments have grown after Michel's visit, it is crucial to remember that if the EU were truly a problem solver, it would have addressed the situation in Cyprus long ago.

Moreover, he noted that just the day before, Turkish President Erdoğan announced his readiness to support the US and NATO in Afghanistan. Therefore, it is expected that the relationship between Turkey and the West will be based on shared interests rather than conflict, and one should not place false hopes in the so-called 'saviors' sent from the West.

In closing, he remarked that the blame for our misfortunes does not lie solely outside of us, but primarily with ourselves, and our salvation should be sought within.
