Diplomats Open Up in Private Chat; Syunik Aghajanyan Exposed
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: A few days ago, by the decree of President Armen Sargsyan, Syunik Aghajanyan was recalled from his position as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. This recall surprised some, as Aghajanyan has been in the foreign affairs system since 1992, is considered an experienced and skilled diplomat, and has worked in various countries, including serving as the Armenian ambassador to the Netherlands from 2011 to 2018, before being assigned to Asian countries.
We have learned that his recall was literally decided within a few days. The fact is that Armenian ambassadors have a closed chat where they communicate with each other. In this chat, vigorous discussions have taken place since the war, and Syunik Aghajanyan accused his male ambassador colleagues of remaining silent, betraying their homeland, and failing to voice their objections.
Some time passed, and according to information we received, someone belatedly exposed Aghajanyan by bringing his behavior to the attention of the National Security Service and providing details of the conversations that took place in the chat. This was followed by a call from a junior staff member of the Foreign Ministry's personnel department to Aghajanyan, informing him to prepare for rotation, and literally within two days, the ambassador was recalled.
Despite a significant shortage of appointments in the Foreign Ministry regarding personnel, including ambassadors, the current authorities did not allow the dissenting ambassador to stay even for a single day to conduct ceremonies and bid farewell to the official circles of the host country.
