Arthur Aleksanyan's Father Clarifies Rumors About His Son's Candidacy for Gyumri Mayor

Aravot.am inquired about the rumors regarding the potential candidacy of Greco-Roman wrestler, world and European champion Arthur Aleksanyan for the position of mayor of Gyumri, speaking to his father, Gevorg Aleksanyan. Gevorg did not confirm or deny the rumors, stating: “We are going to the Olympic Games now, let’s not discuss this topic at the moment; we will address those questions after we go.”

It should be noted that the local elections in Gyumri are scheduled for October 17, and despite various names circulating, there has been ongoing speculation about a scenario in which the world champion would be seen as a candidate for the mayor's position. This idea seems to be supported both by Samvel Balasanyan and by members of the ruling Civil Contract party.
