Nairi Hokhikyan's Statements Under Investigation by NSS and SCC

Statements made by journalist Nairi Hokhikyan regarding the 44-day war in Artsakh are being investigated by the Special Investigative Service (SCC) and the National Security Service (NSS). This information was conveyed to Hraparak by the advisor to the General Prosecutor, Gor Abrahamyan.

“A significant part of the audio recording published by Nairi Hokhikyan has been sent to the SCC to be examined in connection with the criminal case against the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Movses Hakobyan. Meanwhile, the section regarding the seizure of Shushi has been forwarded to the NSS for review within the framework of an ongoing criminal case,” Abrahamyan stated.

When asked whether Hokhikyan had been interrogated, Abrahamyan noted that the materials had just been sent for examination, and no investigative actions had yet taken place.

It should be recalled that Hokhikyan had recently referred to a conversation between himself and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the “My Step for Gegharkunik” forum in 2019, as well as a discussion involving Pashinyan's spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan and journalist Alexander Lapshin regarding the issue of the territories of Artsakh, the treacherous surrender of Shushi, and more.

This statement made by Hokhikyan has already been denied by former spokesperson for Prime Minister Pashinyan, Vladimir Karapetyan, who stated that he demands a retraction from Hokhikyan, failing which he intends to take legal action. Alexander Lapshin has also denied the allegations, stating: “I have never heard the phrase ‘thousands of killed Armenians,’ such discussions did not happen, and I was not involved in any such dialogue,” the blogger wrote.
