Eiffel Tower Reopens to Tourists After Nine-Month Hiatus
After a nearly nine-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Eiffel Tower in Paris reopened to tourists on July 16. Visitors are required to adhere to the regulations related to the pandemic, as reported by France24.
They must wear protective masks and maintain social distancing. The maximum number of tourists allowed to ascend the tower in a day is capped at 10,000 people.
Starting July 21, adults wishing to visit this iconic Parisian landmark must also present a negative coronavirus test, a COVID recovery certificate, or proof of vaccination. Children and teenagers are exempt from these requirements.
This year, it is expected that the majority of visitors will be French nationals, with a significant number coming from Italy and Spain. Americans will make up about 15 percent of tourists, while visitors from the Asian region will be fewer, and there will be almost no British tourists.
