38 Employees Laid Off from Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine
The General Director of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, Parag Johannes Bhati, has dismissed 38 individuals from their positions, as reported by Aravot.am. Among those laid off are managers of different departments, the head of the security department and employees, energy specialists, and administrative workers including consultants and assistants. Also dismissed is the advisor to the Board Chairman, Garnik Ghazaryan (known as 'Garik of the 'Azhdakh' party), who, according to the publication, was detained for a month yesterday.
According to a source from Aravot.am, 'Most of those being laid off are close associates of the combine's former General Director, Vahe Hakobyan, who was also the former governor of Syunik. It can be said that the dismissed employees are those who pressured other staff about the election, those who blocked the Prime Minister's path.'
The website attempted to ascertain the reasons for the dismissals from those affected; however, they refrained from commenting, and some stated that they would appeal to the court.
It is worth noting that during the pre-election campaign in Syunik, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that by July 15, those who stated they would dismiss employees who participated in Pashinyan's rallies would no longer work in the company.
Furthermore, during his campaign in Kapan, Pashinyan mentioned that local oligarchs with stakes in the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine would soon be deprived of their interests. The Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine announced that it intends to submit a relevant application regarding Pashinyan's declaration to the competent state authorities.
