Rosselkhoznadzor Prevents Azerbaijani Tomatoes and Peaches from Entering Russia
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) has prohibited the import of 83.2 tons of tomatoes and 36.9 tons of peaches from Azerbaijan into Russian territory since the beginning of July 2021. This information was reported by the organization, as mentioned on the haqqin.az website.
The reason for the ban on the entry of fruits and vegetables is a laboratory conclusion from the Dagestan branch of the All-Russian Center for Plant Quarantine, which indicated the detection of quarantine harmful objects in the products, specifically the tomato borer (Tuta absoluta Povolny) and the oriental fruit moth (Grapholitha molesta).
As of June 2021, Rosselkhoznadzor has also refused to import 20 tons of vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, etc.) and 13.7 tons of fruits (apples, strawberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, etc.) from Azerbaijan and Iran.
