Aronian Will Not Participate in the 1st Game of the 2nd Round of the World Cup Due to Health Issues

Levon Aronian will not participate in the 1st game of the 2nd round of the World Cup due to health problems. According to Armenpress, further testing will determine whether he will compete in the 2nd game or not.

This year, a record number of Armenian chess players are representing Armenia in the World Cup. In the men's tournament, Armenia is represented by five players: Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sarkisian, Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Hayk Martirosyan, and Shant Sarkisyan. This number is a record for Armenia; in the World Cups held since 2005, the maximum number of Armenian participants has been four.

In the women's tournament, Armenia is represented by the leading player of the Armenian women's team, Elina Danielyan.

The World Chess Cup is taking place this year in Sochi, Russia. The men's tournament features 206 participants, while the women's tournament has 103 participants. The event will conclude on August 6.
