Emergency Incident in Yerevan: Giant Mulberry Tree Falls on Building
On July 13, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 9:00 PM, due to strong winds, a giant mulberry tree planted in the yard of house number 5 on Aram Khachaturyan Street in the Arabkir administrative district broke at its base and fell onto a building resembling a hallway. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reporting from the scene, fortunately, there were no casualties.
One fire and rescue unit from the emergency management ministry's firefighting service promptly arrived on the scene. By the order of the head of the Arabkir administrative district, Aram Danielyan, responsible officials for landscaping from the Arabkir municipality also arrived to assess the situation. They promised to remove the fallen tree today, even though it is the property of a resident who would typically be responsible for its removal.
However, if the resident attempted to remove the tree themselves, there was a possibility that representatives from the Arabkir police station, Arabkir municipality, and Yerevan city hall would visit and accuse them of illegal tree cutting.
