Chinese Developers Promise Gyumri-Talin Road Will Be Operational by Autumn

Acting Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan was in Shirak province for a working visit, accompanied by ministry officials, as reported by the Shirak Governor's office. Together with Shirak Governor Hovhannes Harutyunyan, the minister monitored the progress of works on segment 3 of the 'North-South' road corridor. Expansion works will be carried out on a 42.6 km segment, transforming the existing two-lane road into a four-lane road. In Shirak province, the road section from Lanjik to Gyumri spans 27.5 km.

During a conversation with reporters, Acting Minister Papikyan assured that all efforts will be made to expedite the construction of the 'North-South' road. Asphalt paving works on the Gyumri-Talin section are underway, and as promised by the Chinese developers, one side of this section will be operational by September.

Acting Minister Suren Papikyan, together with Shirak Governor Hovhannes Harutyunyan and Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan, also observed road construction work funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Gyumri. The delegation visited Mayakovski and Matnishyan streets. A 650-meter section of Mayakovski Street is being constructed with EBRD funding, and the construction works are in progress. Matnishyan Street is also being developed with the same funding, with the second layer of asphalt being laid over a 700-meter section.

Minister Papikyan was also presented with 63 new minibuses acquired by the Gyumri Municipality within the framework of the subsidy program. Four of these are designated for individuals with disabilities. The first batch of 20 minibuses has already arrived in Gyumri, with the next batch to follow soon.

The Acting Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures responded to journalists' questions, emphasizing the importance of all initiatives and projects aimed at the development of Shirak province, particularly Gyumri.
