54 Killed in Hospital Fire for COVID-19 Patients in Iraq
The death toll from the fire that broke out at a hospital for COVID-19 patients in Al-Nasiriyah, Dhi Qar province, Iraq, has reached 54, as reported by the provincial health department on Tuesday evening. Previously, reports indicated 38 casualties.
According to preliminary information, the fire occurred due to an explosion of an oxygen cylinder. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze; however, several patients with COVID-19 remained trapped in the hospital.
