Artsakh Issue Not Resolved, Says RPA
Yesterday, a regular meeting of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) took place, chaired by RPA President and former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. This was reported by the RPA executive body.
During the meeting, the current post-electoral situation in the country was discussed as a priority. The party reaffirmed its stance on the recent parliamentary elections. “The recent snap elections in Armenia do not resolve the existing profound crisis. In the context of recent regional developments and challenges, we cannot disregard the vital interests of the Armenian people, nor can we consider the devastating and unjust consequences of the war provoked by Azerbaijan as a new reality. The Republican Party has not reconciled with this situation and once again declares that the Artsakh issue is not resolved, that the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination is non-negotiable, and that Armenia must remain a sovereign actor in the region,” the statement reads.
The party emphasized that a top priority remains addressing Armenia's and Artsakh's security challenges and combating threats to Armenia's sovereignty, for which the main agenda item is the removal of the capitulatory regime from power.
The prospects for the party's participation in the upcoming local government elections, as well as the necessity for structural, personnel, and programmatic reforms within the party, were also discussed. In the context of the current political developments in the country, a condemnation of illegal arrests, the renewed wave of political persecution, and repression was also voiced.
