Arrested Americans Cite Motive for Haiti President's Assassination Attempt

American citizens who were arrested in Haiti in connection with the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse have stated that the mercenaries did not intend to kill the head of state. This was reported by the Nouvelliste newspaper, citing a judge involved in the investigation.

According to recent information, among those arrested are two Americans of Haitian descent, James Solages and Joseph Vincent. “They claimed to be translators. The aim of the mercenaries, according to the investigating judge’s command, was to arrest President Moïse, not to kill him,” said Judge Clément Noël, referring to the testimony of the Americans.

At the same time, the details of the command have not been clarified. The judge explained that Solages, during his testimony, reported discovering a job “on the internet.” He had arrived in Haiti a month ago, while the mercenaries had arrived three months prior.

Additionally, Noël reported that searches were conducted on vehicles belonging to potential assassins, which resulted in the discovery of firearms and cash in American currency.
