The government has approved the proposal of the Supreme Judicial Council from June 30, 2021, to increase the number of judges by 20 specialists. Thus, an institute of specialized judges will be introduced to examine requests for detention, verification of the legality of arrests, search warrants, and motions regarding operational intelligence activities.

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that increasing the number of judges should be viewed as a means of substantive reforms in the judicial system. "We hope that with these additions, we will strengthen the best practices existing in the judicial system, while also engaging fresh forces in the judiciary to eventually achieve our dream judicial system, where decisions will be considered an embodiment of justice. This is the most important goal," Pashinyan noted.
