The Purpose of the Patrol Service is Primarily to Ensure Public Order and Safety
The primary purpose of the Patrol Service's activities is to ensure public order and safety, provide road safety, prevent crimes, as well as detect crimes and administrative violations. This was stated by Ara Fidanyan, the Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police, during a conversation with journalists, according to Armenpress.
Fidanyan noted that previously, the police handled all these functions through various services, particularly the Road Police, the Patrol Service, and to some extent, neighborhood inspectors.
The Deputy Chief of Police mentioned that the operational management center received 354 calls in one day, relating to various violations and crimes.
The Patrol Service began its operations on July 7, with 700 trained patrol officers taking to the streets of Yerevan for the first time to ensure public safety.
