Rising Sugar Prices Observed by Everyone Except the Head of the Competition Commission: Suren Parsyan
The oligarchy-linked Competition Commission is once again hanging on the bubbles to justify its criminal inaction. This was noted by Suren Parsyan, an economist and head of the Economic Research Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau, in his article, referring to the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition.
He specifically mentioned: “Indeed, in July, the artificial shortage of sugar and the rising prices were seen by everyone except the head of the Competition Commission. The old legislation on competition is still in effect in the legal information system of the Republic of Armenia, arlis.am, and there is also a provision about the same artificial shortage in the legislation that came into force just a month ago, the secondary legislative acts of which have not been developed. Therefore, the methodology for revealing, assessing, and punishing the abuse of dominant position remains the same.”
I regret that some employees of the commission do not know that the influence on the market is not determined solely by market share. Officials who come to work at noon or spend time in pubs and cafes during work hours will sooner or later have to answer for their inaction. Stay healthy.
