NSS Arrests Employee Without Grounds After Raids at Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine: Hakobyan

Employees of the National Security Service (NSS) conducted searches in several offices at the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, arresting one employee without clear grounds. This was stated by Vahe Hakobyan, a member of the "Hayastan" alliance, in a conversation with NEWS.am.

“Several offices of the combine were searched, specifically the offices of the lawyer and the energy department employees,” he said.

Hakobyan noted that nothing was found during the search at the combine. “I just learned that one of the employees was arrested. It's unclear to us on what grounds. I characterize this as political persecution; there is no other opinion. Perhaps the current authorities have not digested that Kajaran was the only city where the current government lost,” he added.

He identified the arrested individual as Armen Andreasyan. “Andreasyan has been arrested, and Manvel Paramazyan has also been summoned. Since Nikol is unable to accept what happened in Syunik, and he cannot come to terms with the fact that despite their illegal actions, Syunik has shown the highest performance,” he stated.

Addressing the recent summons of Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan to the Special Investigation Service on July 8, Hakobyan responded: “They have targeted the head of the Karahunj community, who is a woman. They chose this woman to make it easier to work with her. They forced her to give testimony, and have found several others from whom they tried to extract testimonies. They held this woman in isolation for three days, telling her that she either had to testify against Arushanyan or face prosecution. She ended up giving testimony. Following the same scenario, now it is Paramazyan’s turn. Someone affiliated with the ruling party has given testimony against Paramazyan, and the question arises whether that testimony is genuine or not.”

It should be noted that currently, the NSS is transferring the Kajaran mayor to Yerevan. This morning, NSS employees were conducting searches at his residence and vehicle, but the details regarding the criminal case remain unknown.
