CEC Grants Parliamentary Mandate to Ara Melikjanyan in the 7th Convocation of National Assembly
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has granted the parliamentary powers of Lusine Eganian, who resigned, to Ara Melikjanyan, the next candidate on the electoral list of the "My Step" party alliance for the 7th convocation of the National Assembly.
According to Armenpress, the CEC's decision was drafted and signed during the extraordinary session on July 8. CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan stated that they received the report prepared by the Speaker of the National Assembly, which, based on Eganian's resignation application and in accordance with the requirements of the law on the National Assembly's regulation, declared the parliamentary powers of Lusine Eganian, elected from the "My Step" party alliance's nationwide electoral list, to be ceased.
Consequently, following the provisions of the Electoral Code, the CEC prepared a report stating that the parliamentary mandate of the prematurely resigned MP from the "My Step" party alliance's electoral list is granted to Ara Romik Melikjanyan, the next candidate in the national electoral list.
Lusine Eganian submitted her resignation application to the CEC on the 8th day of its receipt, on June 25. She was to replace Hamazasp Danielyan, who had also prematurely ceased his parliamentary powers from the electoral list of the "My Step" party alliance. The 7th convocation of the National Assembly has been dissolved, but it continues to exercise its powers until the formation of the 8th convocation of Parliament.
