What Heroic Deed Earned Argishti Kyaramyan the ‘For Bravery’ Medal? Explanation from the Spokesperson of the Artsakh President
Facebook user Alen Ghulyan published information on his page regarding the fact that the former director of Armenia's NSS, Argishti Kyaramyan, was awarded the ‘For Bravery’ medal by Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan. There has not been an official announcement regarding Kyaramyan's award, which is typically customary.
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the spokesperson for the Artsakh president, Lusine Avanesyan, confirmed the information: “Argishti Kyaramyan has been awarded the ‘For Bravery’ medal; no separate announcement has been made.” When asked about the specific heroic deed that led to this prestigious award, Avanesyan stated, “I cannot specify, but the conditions under which the medal is awarded are established by law.”
Thus, individuals from the Artsakh Defense Army, including privates, commanders, and leadership ranks, who have played a significant role in battles against the enemies of the Republic of Artsakh, in military operations, in protecting the integrity of state borders, and in fighting against diversants, spies, and other enemies of the republic can be awarded the ‘For Bravery’ medal. Those not in the ranks of the Defense Army who have been skilled and proactive in combating the enemies of Artsakh, as well as those who have risked their lives to contribute to the success of military operations and ensure the safety of the population and the health and well-being of individuals, are also awarded this medal.
It should be noted that on the 12th day of the 44-day war, Argishti Kyaramyan was relieved of his duties as the head of the NSS of Armenia, and subsequently, Colonel Kyaramyan was present in Shushi.
