Russian Border Guards to Arrive and Deploy Above Kut Village, Says Mayor

Russian border guards have not yet arrived, but they are expected to come and deploy in the upper part of the village. This was stated by Sima Chitchyan, the head of the Kut community in Gegharkunik region, in an interview with Tert.am.

"They are supposed to come, set up their base, and deploy. They visited 15 days ago, surveyed the area, and it seems they will also bring their mobile cabins, but they have not yet reached the village. We have not seen them; who has seen them?" he elaborated.

According to Sima Chitchyan, no one has asked for their opinion on the matter, as it is related to the military, but they believe that the deployment of Russian border guards could alleviate tension to some extent.

"They will come, and we will see what happens. Perhaps when the Russian border guards arrive, even if they push the Azerbaijanis back by a kilometer from our territory, it would be beneficial for us," he said.

It is noteworthy that there were reports in the media suggesting that Russian border guards have already been deployed to the borders of Gegharkunik, and a photo was published on the internet showing Russian border guards on the Gegharkunik road.
