US State Department Calls for Punishment of Attacks During LGBT March in Georgia

The spokesperson for the US State Department, Ned Price, made a post on Twitter urging for accountability against those opposing the sexual minority march in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

“We condemn the brutal attacks on civil society activists, community representatives, and journalists on July 5 in Georgia. The Georgian leadership and law enforcement agencies must protect constitutional rights to freedom of expression and assembly, and hold those who participated in the violence accountable,” Price wrote.

It is noteworthy that there was a protest against the LGBT march in Tbilisi, during which 50 journalists were harmed.
