Pashinyan Makes Decision Regarding Mother University
According to information from the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the authorities are doing everything possible to resolve the turmoil surrounding the rector and management of Yerevan State University (YSU). The issue is that for over a year, the university has lacked a council, and thus they have not been able to elect a rector.
According to our sources, the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has been discussing the appointment of three members to the YSU council for a long time, and has finally made a decision: the posts will be given to Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan. The government aims to "resolve the issues of the mother university" with this appointment.
Incidentally, the authorities have regretted their previous decision to appoint Vahram Dumanyan as rector and are now searching for alternatives for that position. The situation at the university is extremely tense, and a person needs to be brought in who can stabilize this disgraceful situation. However, how political officials can keep the university away from politics remains a big question, according to the newspaper.
