Renowned Actor and Director Vladimir Menshov Passes Away
Renowned director Vladimir Menshov has passed away at the age of 81. This information has been reported by RIA Novosti. At the end of June, he contracted the coronavirus.
Menshov began his career in cinema at the age of 30, taking on various roles from worker and servant to governor, prosecutor, and military officer. As an actor, he embodied the character his father dreamed of seeing him as; Valentin Mikhailovich wanted his son to dedicate his life to the army. However, cinema altered those plans with films such as “The Man in His Place,” “The Salty Dog,” “Ar-Ki-Med-Ner,” “The Last Meeting,” and “Personal Opinion.”
Since the 1970s, actor Menshov was in high demand on set, but he dreamt of being on the other side of the camera, a dream he successfully realized while still not giving up his acting profession.
Some of the most memorable films featuring actor Vladimir Menshov from the 1980s include “The Strawman,” “Where Is the Nofolet?” “City Zero,” “Tsarevich Alexei,” and “Love and Doves.” He produced at least one film a year, sometimes even more. The actor remained sought after in both the 1990s and 2000s, continuing to be in demand up to the present day.
In 2014, Vladimir Menshov received the “Golden Eagle” award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Eduard Balashov in the film “Legend No. 17.”
