Out of 5,161 Construction Permit Applications in Three Years, 4,969 Were Approved: Karapetyan

Some of our citizens justify their "aspiration" to build unauthorized structures by claiming that obtaining a construction permit is complicated. It may not be easy, but this does not justify any form of illegality. This was stated by Hakob Karapetyan, the spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan, on his Facebook page.

He provided several figures: Between September 2018 and June 8, 2021, the Yerevan municipality received 5,161 construction permit applications, of which 4,969 were approved.

At the same time, from September 1 to December 31, 2018, there were 303 cases of illegal construction halted in the capital. In 2019, the number was 1,144; in 2020, it rose to 1,411; and from the beginning of 2021 until May 31, there were 404 cases. It is clear that the figures for the demolition of illegal structures in June and July will be impressive,” the spokesperson wrote.
