Exclusive Footage: "The Light of Our Homeland's Eyes, That We Came Back Safe"
A new group of returned prisoners of war includes 12 servicemen who were captured in the village of Khznaberd, Artsakh, following the end of the 44-day war. The first words spoken by former prisoner of war Edgar Mahtesyán upon arriving in Armenia were, "Finally, we are in our homeland," he continued, "the light of our homeland's eyes, that we came back safe, and wait for our brothers on the way," he told a Sputnik Armenia correspondent.
In response to the question of whether there are still many people left in Azerbaijan, he replied, "Yes." Exclusive footage shows how Armenian prisoners of war disembark from the plane and are taken into an ambulance. They are seen off by the commander of the peacekeeping forces in Artsakh, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, who inquires about the boys' well-being and wishes them success. Sputnik Armenia's camera captured what happened at the "Erebuni" airport.
