Why the Reality is Kept Secret: The Remarkable Picture of Vaccinations

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," although the Ministry of Health of Armenia is trying to do everything to increase public interest in vaccinations against the coronavirus pandemic, the number of vaccinations in Armenia continues to be worryingly low.

As of now, more than 80,000 people have been vaccinated in Armenia, which is approximately 2.9 percent of the population. The acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considered these figures alarming during a meeting held the day before.

"Zhoghovurd" has discovered that a different reality is hidden behind these figures and calculations. The truth is that it is not the Armenian population that is 2.9 percent vaccinated, as the relevant authorities are trying to show. The fact is that a large number of foreigners among those vaccinated have been vaccinated while in Armenia, and the Ministry of Health includes these individuals in the total of 80,000 vaccinated people.

The newspaper reached out to the spokesperson for the Minister of Health, Hripsime Khachatryan, requesting data on how many of the vaccinated are foreigners. She assured that they do not have separate statistics on this matter.

It is worth noting that vaccinations are conducted based on passport data, making it impossible not to determine the ethnicity or citizenship of the vaccinated individuals. In reality, yes, vaccinations have been conducted for a significant number of foreigners.

This means that foreigners are receiving free vaccinations at the expense of the Armenian state budget and returning to their countries, while Armenian citizens are not very inclined to get vaccinated. Vaccines likely have a short shelf life and require rapid consumption of supply.
