Pre-School Services, Including Development Centers, to be Licensed in Armenia
Pre-school services, including development centers, are set to be licensed in Armenia. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport reports this news. During an extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the package of legislative proposals for amending the Law on Licensing was adopted in the second reading and in full.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Zhanna Andreasian presented the bill, emphasizing that the aim of adopting these laws is to establish uniform standards for state policy in the field of pre-school education and to ensure equal conditions and requirements for the licensing of pre-school organizations.
The bill seeks to regulate the oversight mechanisms in the field of pre-school education. In addition to pre-school educational programs, pre-school services will also be brought under the licensing framework, allowing for the implementation of licensing policies for so-called development centers and various services,” noted Andreasian.
According to her, this will contribute to an increase in accountability for pre-school education within the broader education sector, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of addressing existing challenges in the pre-school education system.
The positive conclusion of the main committee was presented by MP Hakob Aslanyan with a related report.
According to the Law on Pre-School Education, centers that are to start their activities anew must be licensed by December 30, 2022. Existing centers must apply for re-licensing within six months after the law comes into effect. There is no state fee for the re-licensing process.
