Contaminated Drinking Water in Kanaqer-Zeytun: Samples Taken
Recently, Auroranews received reports from citizens regarding alarming communications from one of the kindergartens in the Kanaqer-Zeytun administrative district. Parents were urged to come and pick up their children due to concerns that the water was contaminated and had an unusual color.
Auroranews contacted Murad Sargsyan, head of the public relations department of Veolia Water Company, who confirmed their awareness of the issue. “We are aware of the situation; laboratory staff have taken samples of the water, which upon testing showed that, even in this condition, the water does not pose a threat to health. Thankfully, there have been no appeals to health institutions. As for the cause, it is of interest to us as well, which is why Veolia Water Company employees are engaged in inspecting the entire area using technical devices to identify and rectify any potential damages to the water supply,” Sargsyan stated.
The Kanaqer-Zeytun administrative district also responded to the issue by releasing a statement: “Dear residents of Kanaqer-Zeytun, we inform you that since early this morning, we have received reports from several residents in the administrative district regarding the tap water being murky or rusty. Relevant staff from the administrative leader's office have contacted the Veolia Water Company and forwarded the reports. As a precautionary measure, operations at kindergartens in the administrative area have been suspended by order of the administrative head. We are coordinating with the water supply operator to determine the cause of the water contamination and to eliminate its effects. The situation is under control,” the statement indicated.
