The Armenian Embassy in Kazakhstan Issues a Statement

Official direct regular air transportation between Kazakhstan and Armenia has been restored. From now on, Armenian citizens can enter the territory of Kazakhstan without any justification, according to a statement from the Armenian Embassy in Kazakhstan.

"We inform you that the direct regular air transportation between Kazakhstan and Armenia has been officially restored, which had been temporarily suspended since January 21, 2020, first due to technical reasons and then due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Armenian side had repeatedly applied for its restoration. On June 16 of this year, the relevant state authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Interdepartmental Commission for Preventing the Emergence and Spread of Coronavirus Infection in the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan) made a decision that, according to point 3, allows Kazakhstan to restore direct regular flights on the Nur-Sultan-Yerevan-Nur-Sultan and Aktau-Yerevan-Aktau routes, each operating twice a week.

The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan recently issued an official statement confirming this fact. Therefore, the procedure for crossing the state border of Kazakhstan (revised on February 9) applies when entering and leaving the territory of Kazakhstan.

It is worth reminding that Armenia lifted the ban on the entry of foreigners, including Kazakh citizens, by air back in August 2020. Direct air traffic is continuing to be operated by SCAT Airlines. Currently, there is still only the Aktau-Yerevan-Aktau route functioning, which operates once a week (every Friday).

The first regular flight took place on June 25-26, and the next one is scheduled for July 2-3. The airline also announced this recently. Preliminary data suggests that the Nur-Sultan-Yerevan-Nur-Sultan route will be launched soon, provided there is a sufficient number of passengers. Tickets can be purchased on the airline's official website and at ticket offices.
