Investigation Committee Statement on Stabbing of Former Special Investigative Service Chief's Son

The Investigative Committee of Armenia clarified that Narek Shahinyan is not connected to a flower kiosk, disputing reports in electronic media suggesting that a disagreement arose due to the dismantling of the flower kiosk by municipal employees.

The statement was released by the press service of the Investigative Committee. It was reported that on June 30, an argument escalated into a brawl and stabbing incident in Yerevan. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the central police department received a notification from the number 1 university hospital indicating that a citizen with a "stab wound to the left flank" had been admitted, later identified as Narek Shahinyan, a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan.

The statement noted: "On June 30, 2021, during an incident involving a group of individuals at the intersection of Isaakian and Teryan Streets in Yerevan, Narek Shahinyan sustained injuries and sought medical assistance. Based on a report received from the healthcare facility, materials are being prepared to clarify the details of the incident and hold responsible parties accountable."

The Committee urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified and inaccurate information.

Additionally, according to shamshyan.com, a suspect in the stabbing of Narek Shahinyan is being sought, specifically the head of one of the departments of the Central administrative district municipality. The victim is the son of Vahram Shahinyan, the former head of the Special Investigative Service of Armenia.
