Health Status of Infected Individuals is Moderate to Mild: Avanesyan on 3 Confirmed Cases of Anthrax Infection

In Armenia, the three confirmed cases of anthrax infection are of the skin form of the disease. This information was provided by Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a press briefing after a government meeting today.

“The health status of the infected individuals is moderate to mild. They are receiving the necessary medical assistance; doctors are doing everything possible, and a complete course of treatment will be provided to them,” said Avanesyan.

She also mentioned that the number of infected individuals has not increased, but the source of the infection’s spread is currently unknown.

It is reminded that several days ago, anthrax was diagnosed in three residents of the communities of Vanavan and Torfaavan in the Gegharkunik region. Preliminary suspicions suggest that the infection spread through the meat of a sick animal.
