US Department of Transportation Proposes Ban on Air Travel with Belarus

The US Department of Transportation proposed a ban on commercial air travel with Belarus on Tuesday. According to the document, the proposal is based on a decision from the State Department. This pertains to the diversion of a Ryanair flight on May 23, influencing the limitation of transport relations with Belarus in light of US foreign policy interests. This was reported by TASS.

The ban simultaneously allows for exceptions for the US government, including for humanitarian and national security considerations.

The Department of Transportation has invited interested parties to submit their comments on this matter by July 1.
