Turkish Figure Charged in Germany Due to Anti-Armenian Statements
The former leader of the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DİTİB) operating in Germany, Mustafa Keskini, has been charged with "inciting hatred and animosity." This information was reported by Ermenihaber.am.
Earlier, an investigation was launched against the Turkish figure due to offensive comments directed at Jews and Armenians on social media. As a result, in February 2021, the president of DİTİB resigned.
In one of his posts, Keskini published a photo of Mehmet Ali Ağca, who attempted to assassinate Pope John Paul II in 1981, alongside Pope Francis, writing, "Do not be surprised if someone fires at the Pope's head." Notably, this post was made immediately after Pope Francis referred to the Armenian Genocide as the first genocide of the 20th century.
The Göttingen public prosecutor's office stated that the court has prepared an indictment regarding five different publications by Keskini. He has made hate-filled posts on Facebook and WhatsApp from May 2015 to the present.
