Frontline Soldiers Have Not Been Paid for Months: MP Verifies the Reports

In early June, I received numerous reports that contract soldiers from the Zod military unit, transferred to Gegharkunik and serving in Verin Shorzha, had not been receiving their salaries for their service in Verin Shorzha. This means that the soldiers have been serving on the frontline for months without pay, noted MP Taguhi Tovmasyan on her Facebook page.

She mentioned that she had reached out to the acting Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, also raising issues regarding additional payments for the servicemen.

The lawmaker received a response to her inquiry, resulting in all contract servicemen from the Zod military unit, who were and are currently engaged in combat missions and combat duty in Verin Shorzha, receiving their monthly stipends.

“Starting from July 2021, upon confirmation of figures, allowances for combat duty will be calculated in accordance with the established procedures by the relevant divisions of the Zod military unit and will be paid to all contract servicemen who have served in Verin Shorzha for the actual days of service. Best of luck and safe service to all our servicemen. Rest assured, I address all your issues promptly and urgently, and I am glad that I am facilitating their resolution in some way,” Tovmasyan stated.
