In the communities of Vanavan and Torfavank in Gegharkunik Province, cases of anthrax have been detected among animals. On June 29, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDCP) of the Ministry of Health conducted sampling from 7 residents of these communities.
Out of the samples, 3 confirmed cases of anthrax have been identified. Two of the positive cases are from owners of infected animals, while one is a relative of theirs. The condition of 2 of the patients is assessed as moderate, while one is classified as mild.
Additionally, 4 soil samples taken from the village of Vanavan and grazing areas were tested for anthrax agents, but no pathogens were found. Surveillance visits continue.
