I Call on Azerbaijan to Release Prisoners Under the Auspices of the OSCE: Ann Linde
The current president of the OSCE and Sweden's Foreign Minister Ann Linde addressed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the OSCE's efforts for conflict resolution. In response to questions regarding disappointment in the OSCE in Armenia, citing that the OSCE did nothing during the Second Karabakh War, she specifically stated:
“To resolve conflicts, it is necessary to create an environment that alleviates pains and has a strong foundation for reconciliation. Dialogue is essential for establishing peace in the regions. I do not agree that the OSCE is not making efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. I have a special representative who is working very actively. I met with him yesterday to discuss the situation. There is also the co-chairmanship of the Minsk Group, comprising Russia, France, and the USA, which, however, had limited opportunities to visit the region last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also important to ensure the return of 15 prisoners and to provide maps of mined areas. I also highly appreciate the efforts made by Georgia in this regard. These were confidence-building measures. I urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to strengthen confidence by releasing all prisoners and, under the auspices of the OSCE, with the mediation of my personal representative Kasprzyk, to find a political solution, as there is still no peace agreement,” reports 1lurer.am.
