Farmers Block Yerevan-Gyumri Road, Irrigation Water Issue Unresolved

Residents of several villages in Shirak province have blocked the Yerevan-Gyumri road near the village of Benjamin. They demand that the government promptly address the irrigation issue.

Since this morning, farmers from Akhuryan, Getq, Benjamin, Azatana, and six other villages have closed the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. The farmers are demanding water to irrigate their fields. This year, the necessary volume of water was not accumulated in the Karnut reservoir before the irrigation season, resulting in thousands of hectares of grain, potato, and other crop fields remaining parched.
