EU Council Approves Aviation Agreement with Armenia
The Council of the European Union has authorized the signing of air transport agreements with Ukraine and Armenia as part of its common aviation area strategy. Agreements with Tunisia and Qatar have also received the green light. This decision was made today.
These agreements will open up the air transport market, offering new opportunities for consumers and operators. They will contribute to the development of trade, tourism, and an increase in investments.
“The Council is now ready to sign four important aviation agreements that will improve airlines' access to markets and enhance citizens' connectivity and freedom of movement,” states the EU Council’s announcement.
At the same time, these agreements will ensure the highest level of security. As a result of these agreements, market restrictions on neighboring countries will be lifted. These countries will be connected to the EU internal aviation market as they adopt EU aviation standards and apply EU aviation regulations.
It is expected that the documents will be signed in the autumn of 2021. Following this, they will need to be ratified by the signing countries, the European Union, as well as all EU member states. Until the completion of this process, air transport agreements with Ukraine, Armenia, and Qatar will be temporarily applied.
This is expected to create more favorable conditions for citizens of Ukraine and Armenia traveling to EU countries. Additionally, it will enhance competition in the air transport market, which could lead to lower ticket prices.
