White House Announces That the U.S. Will Not Warn Russia About Attacks
The United States will respond if, in Washington's view, Russia conducts cyberattacks targeting American infrastructure. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during a press briefing, as reported by TASS.
“I don’t think President Joe Biden is required to provide Russian President Vladimir Putin with a list defining critical infrastructure in the U.S. I know that this is part of the reasoning in response to Biden's proposal,” Psaki said when asked whether the U.S. side provided a list of sectors during the Geneva talks that should not be subjected to cyberattacks.
“The U.S. President has indicated that we will monitor those sectors and reserve the right to respond,” she added.
According to the press secretary, this signal was sent during the summit held in Geneva on June 16. When asked why the U.S. delegation did not convey to the interlocutors the list of Russian entities that could be affected in case of harm to American interests, Psaki replied, “because we do not discuss the specifics of our measures.”
