Rumors Spread by Current MP Naira Zohrabyan: Spokesperson Appeals to Media

A journalist colleague recently requested a comment regarding rumors circulating that, allegedly, the cleaning service of Yerevan is distributing leaflets containing anti-campaign messages against one of the electoral forces under instruction. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Yerevan city hall, Hakob Karapetyan, on his Facebook page.

Shortly after the call, I discovered that the rumor is being spread by current MP Naira Zohrabyan. We hope that law enforcement will appropriately assess the highly experienced MP's statement, particularly considering the circumstances of false denunciation.

The Yerevan city hall is interested in ensuring that polluters of the city are identified and punished as harshly as possible. Additionally, taking this opportunity, we hope that there will also be investigations into the recent increase in instances of garbage bin burnings.

We believe that no political expediency justifies slanderous statements against our cleaning staff, who work daily to maintain the city's cleanliness, and it does not honor those who make such claims, especially a seasoned MP.

We urge our esteemed media colleagues to refrain from spreading rumors. The Yerevan city hall and its relevant bodies participate in electoral processes exclusively within the framework of the powers reserved by law.
