Ombudsman Addresses Shooting Incident on Arman Babajanyan's Vehicle

The Human Rights Defender contacted Arman Babajanyan, the head of the electoral list of the 'Shirinyan-Babajanyan Democrats' alliance, early in the morning on June 20, immediately after information regarding a shooting incident on the windshield of his 'Land Cruiser Prado' vehicle was released.

The Ombudsman's office reported that Babajanyan informed them that law enforcement agencies were present at his home at that time, conducting relevant actions.

During his phone conversation with the Human Rights Defender, Arman Babajanyan noted that he does not rule out the possibility that today's incident might be related to the emphases made during speeches at their alliance's final rally held in Yerevan on June 18.

The Human Rights Defender considers the shooting at Babajanyan's vehicle, especially on election day, to be highly concerning. Law enforcement agencies must take all necessary measures to ensure a prompt investigation and uncover the circumstances of the incident.

It has been reported that the Investigation Committee has already initiated a criminal case, commissioned comprehensive forensic examinations, and carried out other procedural actions.

A letter regarding the issue will be sent to law enforcement agencies by the Ombudsman's office, ensuring that the matter remains under the attention of the Human Rights Defender.
