Number of Inmates and Convicts Participating in Elections Revealed
As of 20:00 today, 812 inmates and convicts with the right to vote have participated in the elections held in correctional institutions in Armenia. This information has been provided by the penitentiary service.
It is noted that as of June 20, there are 2019 detained individuals and convicts being held in correctional institutions. Among them, 999 have been included in the lists submitted to the Central Electoral Commission and have the right to vote (according to the Armenian Electoral Code, individuals convicted of serious or particularly serious crimes intentionally committed and serving a sentence are not entitled to vote).
It should be mentioned that no reports or alerts regarding alleged electoral violations have been received from correctional institutions during the voting.
Today, at 08:00, the early parliamentary elections commenced at 2008 polling stations across Armenia. Out of these, 479 polling stations are located in the capital city of Yerevan, while 1,529 are in the regions.
