Employee of a Company in Spitak Offered Bribes to Villagers
The Lori Region Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation to clarify all circumstances related to the apparent case of offering and receiving bribes during elections. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
A resident of the Lori region, while working at a company in Spitak, learned that the director's son was included in one of the party alliances as a candidate for deputy. In support of him, she called a fellow villager and allegedly offered a bribe of 10,000 AMD.
After being refused, she contacted another villager and promised to cancel a debt of 7,500 AMD owed to her, if they would vote for the alliance on the elections set for June 20, 2021.
As a result of this incident, the Lori Regional Department of the Police opened a criminal case under parts 1 and 2 of Article 154.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and the preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Lori Regional Investigative Department.
The resident of the Lori region has been arrested on suspicion of committing a crime defined in part 2 of Article 154.2 of the Criminal Code and has provided a confession. During the preliminary investigation, several witnesses have been interrogated, confrontations have been conducted, and searches have been carried out.
The investigation is ongoing, with necessary investigative and procedural actions being undertaken to ensure a comprehensive and objective examination of all circumstances related to the incident.
