What Azerbaijanis Stole: Details from 'Zhoghvorud'
'Zhoghvorud' newspaper reports: 'While the authorities intimidate competitors with a hammer and conduct an election campaign, yesterday nine Azerbaijani soldiers stole a cow and a newborn calf belonging to the shepherd of the Upper Shorja pasture,' wrote Taguhi Tovmasyan, a candidate for parliament from the 'Honorary' alliance and a native of Vardenis, on her Facebook page, then presented some details of the incident.
The MP alerts that Azerbaijani soldiers are committing overt criminal acts with the intention of depriving Armenian citizens of their life and other vital rights, as well as their ability to engage in livestock farming and earn income for their families. It should be noted that they have not returned the animals recently stolen from Armenian citizens (from the villages of Kut, Upper Shorja in Gegharkunik Region, Aravus, and Khndzoresk in Syunik Region, etc.).
'Zhoghvorud' learned that three heads of large cattle were taken from the village of Aravus, six horses from Kornidzor, and one or two heads of livestock from the village of Khndzakh pass by every ten days. Meanwhile, in the village of Kut, they still cannot return the only source of income for five families. This concerns the 81 cows kidnapped by Azerbaijanis on June 5.
It turns out that no action is being taken to return the livestock. In any case, the government remains silent on this issue; only the country’s number one figure continues to wield the hammer in the regions of Armenia. Meanwhile, according to ArmLur.am's calculations, for example, the residents of Kut have lost livestock worth 32 million and 400 thousand drams, and if we account for the fact that each family earned 3,000 drams daily from one cow, the losses reach significant amounts—over 3 million drams.
The value of one horse is about 250 thousand drams; the total value of the stolen horses in Kornidzor is approximately 1.5 million drams.
