Our Neighbor and Friend Iran and Georgia Do Not Understand Our Political Conduct at All: Sargsyan

I hope that very soon we will have a pragmatic foreign policy stemming from realpolitik. The alternative is complete destruction. This was stated by international relations expert Suren Sargsyan on his Facebook page.

He particularly noted, “In the last three years, the authorities of Armenia have managed to simultaneously ruin relations with all geopolitical centers and capitals of strategic significance for us. Armenia's foreign policy and diplomacy have completely failed. Armenia has isolated itself from the international community and international politics due to the lack of professionalism and the making of inadequate decisions.

The Armenian-Russian relations do not correspond at all to the relationships characteristic of strategic allies. Armenian-American relations are at their historically lowest level, with the only agenda being the issue of American aid. Armenian-Chinese relations, which have always been a benchmark for bilateral relations, have taken on an inadequate nature over the past three years.

No serious steps are being taken towards the European Union, and no adequate agenda is being formed. The entire agenda revolves exclusively around financial support coming from the EU. There is no serious cooperation with the CSTO, UN, NATO, and other international organizations to which we belong or collaborate with through individual bilateral programs.

Our neighbors and friends, Iran and Georgia, do not understand our political conduct at all. Urgent action is needed to become a predictable, adequate, and reliable partner. Our pragmatic—not uncalculated—decisions will be understandable to the world.
