Man Registered with Psychiatrist Stabs Artashat Woman Multiple Times with Two Knives, Then Slits Her Throat: Investigation Committee Details

The Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia has reported on the murder case of a resident of Artashat, revealing several details about the incident, including the motive, during the investigation conducted by the regional investigative department of the Ararat province.

According to the investigation, on the day of the incident, the young man entered the victim's kitchen, attacked her, and inflicted multiple stab wounds with folding knives that he wielded in both hands. As a result, the victim fell to the ground. When she attempted to get up, the young man, intent on completing the crime, stabbed her several more times in different parts of her body and slit her throat, leading to her death due to the injuries sustained.

During the investigation, the young man was questioned and provided a confession. Based on the combination of sufficient evidence gathered, he was charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, with imprisonment chosen as a preventive measure.

The investigation revealed that the young man is registered with a psychiatrist; following the decision of the prosecuting authority, he was subjected to an inpatient forensic psychiatric examination, and by court order, he was transferred to a relevant medical facility. The investigation is ongoing.
