Child Injured in Accident with Papikyan's Vehicle is in Coma: Mayor Confirms Minister Was Not in the Car
It was reported yesterday that the Minister of Territorial Administration, Suren Papikyan's Toyota Land Cruiser, with state registration number 36 RO 720, collided at high speed with a Niva vehicle near the village of Surenavan in the Ararat region. As a result of the collision, a 14-year-old boy, who was driving, sustained serious injuries.
According to circulating media reports, Suren Papikyan was in the vehicle, and those with him quickly removed the registration plates. The police are allegedly doing everything to cover up the accident.
According to our sources, the child is currently in a coma. This was reported by 'Hraparak'.
The mayor of Surenavan, Karo Karapetyan, stated in an interview that, for the sake of fairness, he should mention that Papikyan was not in the car. 'The truth remains the truth; it was his car, but he definitely was not inside. I’ll be straightforward: they don’t interest me, even with their government, but the fact is he wasn’t there. It was the driver,' he said.
He noted that the child was on his way to the garden. 'The child crossed the road with the vehicle.'
The minor's father, Vahe, also said that he is unaware whether Suren Papikyan was in the car or not. 'I have no information; I arrived, and the kid wasn’t there, he was in the hospital. I didn’t even know whose car it was; at that moment, I was confused. I reached the scene 10-15 minutes later.'
When asked if there were any witnesses, he said, 'I haven’t seen or heard anyone, nor do we know who they are. The accident happened around 4 PM.'
He also mentioned that they were not home, and his son had taken the car without permission.
After the incident, neither Papikyan nor any officials have approached the family or inquired about the child's health condition. The father noted that the child is unconscious. 'He has been placed in artificial coma and has fractures.'
It is worth noting that there is information about the incident on the police department's website, but it does not state who the participants in the accident were.
