Kim Jong Un Warns of Hunger Threat

The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has warned of a possible threat of famine during a speech at a plenary session of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. He stated that a tense food situation has arisen due to a typhoon in 2020.

According to Kim Jong Un, last year's typhoon disrupted the grain cultivation program. As a result, the country is facing challenges in providing food for its population.

In his opinion, the restrictions imposed to combat the coronavirus have 'prolonged the battle to provide the population with clothes, food, and housing.'

It has been reported that the North Korean leader has called on the party and the country's residents to be ready for a new 'difficult march.' This term characterizes the 1990s when the country was in a severe economic crisis accompanied by mass famine.
